This has been one of the worst weeks in our history. Each day this week has brought another disaster or act of senseless mayhem, and the week is not yet over.
This week has been a disaster throughout our history. In 1865, President Lincoln was shot on April 14, dying the next day. In 2007, we experienced the shooting at Virginia Tech on April 16. April 19, 1993 saw the Branch Davidian tragedy, only to be followed two years later with the Oklahoma City bombing. And in 1999, students at Columbine High School were massacred on April 20th.
Enough is enough! The days of April 14-20 are too fraught with peril to be allowed to happen even one more time. Beginning in 2014, April 13 should be followed by April 21. Those seven days can be moved to a more pleasant time of year.
I suggest June.
