Uganda has recently approved legislation which allows for life imprisonment for any individual found to be gay in the country. Harboring a gay individual can lead to 14 years, and even speaking to a homosexual can lead to a year in prison under the new law.
As an advocate of gay rights, we beseech President Obama to place an embargo on Uganda and deny aid of any sort until this hateful bill is removed from law. We would hope that President Obama would encourage other nations to take the same action until Uganda votes to remove this shameful law.
