Embrace and fund research in the most efficient form of fossil fuel-free energy: Nuclear Power.

In president Obama's 2013 State of the Union address, he vowed to combat climate change by reducing waste, helping get cars off oil, and funding R&D for cleaner-burning energy sources. Electric cars don't spew pollutants into the air, but when you plug one into the wall, the energy recharging it is 40% coal power--that's not solving anything. Nuclear energy is sustainable and scalable in ways that solar and wind are not and, done properly, it is safe. By reevaluating the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's guidelines to reduce costs, subsidizing the construction of state-of-the-art facilities, and investing in research for waste disposal technology and innovative reactor design, we can easily meet our nation's ever-growing energy needs and lessen our dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels.
