Recent events have made abundantly clear the need for increased security in our public schools. In addition, unemployment among our military's veterans is at much higher levels than it should be. In order to solve both of these problems, legislation should be enacted to employ a minimum of 1 military veteran as a security officer in this nation's public schools. There are few more viable or better qualified options for such a position. By enacting such a policy, our schools would be safer and our veterans would have jobs.
