We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Empower the IRS to revoke the 501(c)(3) status of the Commission on Presidential Debates

Created by J.N. on October 11, 2016

The IRC states that section 501(c)(3) organizations are not permitted to "participate in, or intervene in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office."

By appointing co-chairmen that are entrenched leaders in the Republican and Democratic parties, the CPD has institutionalized 2-party system preferences & has undermined their public mission of educating voters. This has led to a high 15% polling threshold for admission to debates, denial of a signature drive alternative for admission, collusion between parties to the terms of debates without public input, and another access point for corporate influence on our major parties. That is why the CPD's nonprofit status should be reviewed & justly revoked until it is truly independent & nonpartisan
