Enable Louisiana Sate Laws to Protect Deforesting

Created by E.G. on March 24, 2015

The cyprus forests of Louisiana have been suffering due to human development, coastal erosion, and excessive abuse from the lumber industry.

Because there are currently no state laws protecting these forests, they are being logged at a rate of 20,000 acres per year!

Cyprus trees are an important ecological resource that prevent floods, reduce air pollution, and serve as an irreplaceable habitat for threatened and endangered species.

We are petitioning for the creation of state laws to protect these beautiful trees from being excessively torn down, and also to encourage corporations to stop selling cyprus mulch.
