At the state level, people who commit a felony are able to apply to have the felony expunged, allowing them to find jobs and decent housing. There is no method for that on the federal level. Even a presidential pardon does not stop the felony from showing up on background checks. This is a huge problem for people who have made mistakes but have also become decent citizens. A way needs to be created to forgive people who have made those mistakes to be able to overcome them.
