We the People is a nice idea, but any debate and conversations end with the posting of official responses to petitions. Having read through a number of these responses, it is clear that the writers and those who approve the text are not completely forthcoming, nor do they always provide a clear-cut response to the petition.
Enabling comments on the official position, similar to news stories at online news outlets, would facilitate the continuation of conversations and, perhaps, even hold the government to an even higher level of accountability by pointing out perceived deficiencies in the responses. We ought not let a website called "We the People" allow "them the government" to have the last word. The comments could be moderated to discourage abuse.
