We, the undersigned, are saddened and troubled by the frequency of gun violence in the United States, and we are fighting back.
We are Republicans and we are Democrats. We are parents. We are teachers. We are soldiers. We cherish the Constitution. And many of us own guns ourselves. But we will not stand by any longer and watch as our children become victims of political cowardice.
We are proud that our country is a beacon of opportunity to people all around the world. But we are ashamed that our county also has one of the world's highest gun death rates. Every year, over 30,000 Americans are killed by guns, and over 3,000 of these are under 18.
We call on the White House to enact sensible and effective legislation to curb gun violence now. 30,000 American lives depend on it.
