Recognizing that a culture of violence is being promulgated by the entertainment industry, this petition seeks the enactment of legislation establishing an unambiguous rating system for movie and video game violence. The content being disseminated by the motion picture and video gaming industries glamorizes butchery as an expedient solution to almost any problem, and has created a culture that has grown numb to the horrors of bloodshed and wholesale slaughter. We, therefore petition for the creation of a system that will classify levels of violent content, restrict the dissemination of that content to specific age groups, and provide for the prosecution of those providing such content to those for whom it is neither intended nor appropriate.
