After the elementary school shooting in Connecticut, the NRA pointed out the perfect solution: arm the teachers. For some reason lily-livered liberals have declined to consider this entirely safe and reasonable option. On the other hand, the gunman at Seattle State University was subdued with pepper spray. Pepper spray seems to be at least as effective a response to an armed madman as conventional firearms. It is therefore proposed that all public school teachers and administrators be required to receive training in and then to carry at all times pepper spray (this might win the teachers some respect from the students too). This should reconcile both the right's approach to dealing with an attack -- armed teachers -- with the left's -- non-lethal self defense.
