The Obama Administration, an administration that prides itself on openness and transparency, should work towards passing a law ensuring protection from censorship for high-school and college journalists. A federal law needs to be passed that not only ensures that public schools cannot censor their student's journalism and newspapers, but also ensure that private school students have the same rights as public school students (such as the Leonard Law in California). Finally, there needs to be a Journalism Advisor bill in which journalism teachers and instructors cannot be retaliated against due to their students work.
