I propose the following. "Curt's Law" In Honor of Marine Sgt. Curt Fike who lost his battle with PTSD on January 3, 2012. This law would allow anyone holding a valid DD-214, VA ID Card, or active duty service ID, to be able to seek mental health care from ANY Licensed Practicing Mental Health Care professional in the country. This bill would also provide payment guarantees to these health care professionals based on the current re-imbursement schedule that Congress wishes to sight, be it Tri-care, Medicare. or other existing federal pricing guide.
Even if the VA system was working perfectly, there would not be enough resources to handle the influx of veterans needing help. This measure would allow instant access to mental healthcare providers wherever the veteran is located.
