Individuals in the executive branch, such as president, vice president, or cabinet members occupy positions of power and authority that require utmost transparency. An executive order should be enacted requiring all individuals who will occupy certain high-level executive positions to release no fewer than ten years of tax returns (federal and state). These returns would provide the public with information about financial earnings, obligations, and interests. With this knowledge, the public would have insights into potential conflicts of interest, and be protected against leaders facing potentially undue influence from external interests, foreign and domestic. Failure to comply with this executive order would void and nullify an individual's claim to any office, elected or otherwise
