Enact the Farmers Protection Act to help protect farmers from companies like Monsanto.

Created by C.H. on September 18, 2013

Farming has been a way of life for the last 10,000 years of which farmers have always saved seeds from their harvest to saw the following year. The biggest reason for seed saving is to help reduce costs for the following year’s crop. Unfortunately companies such as Monsantos want to change the way we farm by requiring farmers to “license” the seeds and turn in unused seeds at the end of the year at a significant cost to the farmers. They've effectively made it illegal for farmers to keep the seeds they've purchased by enforcing a "no replant policy." As such Monsanto has filed lawsuits against over 500 farmers such as in the case of Vernon Bowman who was required to pay $80,000 to Monsanto for planting GM soybean seeds.
