Enact a federal law that allows teachers with background checks, training and licensing to carry weapons in schools.

Unfortunately in today's environment tragedies like Sandy Hook are a reality. Also unfortunately, the cost of posting a police presence in every school is cost prohibitive. Allowing properly vetted, licensed and trained teachers to carry concealed weapons in the classroom is a realistic deterrent to this type of violence. If Lanza, Harris or Klebold had thought that there was a probability that multiple teachers would have weapons in those schools would they have attacked them? They chose the schools knowing that they are a "Soft Target" meaning very little to no defenses and that they would make the news. Allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons not only would be a deterrent to these deviants but shortens the response time in the event of an attack within a school which saves lives.
