Enact federal safety guidelines for daytime running lights

During the last several decades, the auto industry has adopted daytime running lights. A large number of contemporary automobiles employ them. However, due to lax standards, daytime running lights do not illuminate the taillights. This causes issues at night or during inclimate weather. Too many motorists are unable to distinguish the time of day and the need to turn on their lights to illuminate their taillights because their daytime running lights provide headlights and dashlights. This is a traffic safety concern. Federal standards should dictate that daytime running lights should illuminate the front and rear of the vehicle to ensure the vehicle can be seen in any low light situation.
