Enact the Inspector General Empowerment Act of 2015

Created by M.D. on November 18, 2015

S.579 and companion bill H.R. 2395 have been introduced in both chambers of Congress and have been placed on the respective committee's legislative calendars. The Inspector General Empower Act of 2015 will give the Inspectors General the ability to efficiently execute the duties of their offices and protect the American tax payer against misuse of tax payer funds. The Inspector General community is responsible for objectively executing independent audits and investigations of federal government organizations to ensure that fraud, waste and abuse does not exist within government programs. The IG Empowerment Act will broaden IG oversight authority thus ultimately ensuring appropriate utilization of tax payer monies. The White House should request Congress prioritize this legislation.
