Mr President. I would like to petition for an issue that I feel needs to be addressed. I have been a full time Soldier for almost 13 years.
With that being said, my concern is that like many Soldiers, I pay child support due to a failed marriage. I currently pay almost 1200 dollars in child support and pay every month. My ex-wife gets the money tax free.
In Vermont, the Office of Child Support hits my child support obligation at a higher rate because I don't pay taxes on my BAH or BAS. I don't have a problem supporting my children, I just feel as if I should get a tax break on what I actually pay for Child Support. The mother gets tax free money. I pay 14k a year in child support. Or maybe the ex-spouse should pay taxes on what she receives.
Thank you for your time.
