Major Medical Insurance currently provides much higher reimbursement than Medicare. This creates a bias where Medicare patients can be refused treatment altogether, or be denied access to the practitioner of their choice. At best, these patients are referred to other Health Care Practitioners that accept Medicare. Other health care practitioners such as Chiropractors cannot opt of Medicare and therefore are obligated to treat Medicare patients. This is a discriminatory practice that must be stopped to ensure access to their doctor of choice. All doctors should be considered Medicare Participating Providers and as such, should not be allowed to refuse to treat patients with Medicare coverage versus those with Major Medical Insurance.
