Today the internet is under attack. Propositions have been continually made and pushed in the past couple of years to to put systems into effect that would essentially give a group of people control over one of the greatest technologies mankind has ever created.
This push of control is ultimately pushed by those who fear their businesses are put in danger by piracy. However the truth is that whatever protections you put in place, pirates will always find a way around them, such is the ingenuity of mankind.
The danger we face here is that control over the internet, in any form, could lead to the control of speech on the internet. The internet has provided mankind with the ability to speak its mind in a way never before seen in history, as well as independently report on important issues.
