Enact legislation to reduce government spending on past and present members of Congress

Created by D.N. on October 17, 2013

Members of Congress, both past and present, cost American taxpayers millions upon millions of dollars every year. They receive a ridiculous retirement benefit, have their own taxpayer funded health system, and vote themselves raises every year. This situation is unconscionable.
Propose that Congress be required to seek medical insurance the same as the rest of America. Enact a tiered retirement system so that members of Congress receive retirement based upon their number of years served, similar to the military retirement system. Enact legislation to freeze Congressional pay raises until such time as the United States of America has a balanced budget.
