Enact meaningful reforms to welfare. Reinstate requirement of welfare recipients to prove they are seeking employment, restrict items purchased by welfare dollars to necessity items, subject welfare recipients to drug testing and if they fail screening they are required to seek treatment and pass future screenings to retain benefits, train welfare recipients for new "skills" by requiring them to perform community service (parks department, maintenance of government buildings etc) to help those receiving assistance to acquire skills to get a job and at the same time reduce our deficit by utilizing these able bodies to perform needed work our government currently bids out.
