The United States' helium supply, along with the rest of the world's, is poorly regulated and is in short supply. This is not a renewable resource, once we are out, we are out for good. Helium is necessary in so many scientific and medical applications that it is frightening to think of a future without it. For example: MRI machines are useless without it; no more helium, no more MRIs. Please just do a quick internet search to see the concerns about this little known issue that is as, if not more important that our nation's/world's oil supply. Let's enact measures to protect it. Banning it's use for recreational purposes (e.g. balloons, parade balloons, blimps, etc.) if the first obvious measure.
