As an American citizen, I have the right to go about my daily life -- work, school, shopping, seeing a movie -- without fearing for my life by a deranged shooter with unfettered access to weapons designed to quickly kill as many targets as possible.
Gun control has been an issue skirted for far too long. As I write this, there were 2 mass attacks -- one in Oregon and one in a kindergarten class in Connecticut.
Owning firearms should require careful training, licensing, and background checks without loopholes. Further, the stockpiling of weapons and peripherals like bulletproof gear should be monitored.
As a country, we must ensure the safety of our citizens.
