Enact a permanent ban of all assault weapons, hollow point bullets, high velocity and exploding ammunition.

The buying & selling of assault weapons & ammunition is completely out of control. Collectors or sportsmen and women who want to own these types of guns & ammo should be required to obtain special & strictly-regulated permits through the federal government. Circumstances have changed and the ever-increasing numbers of tragic shooting incidents demands that the unfettered access to assault weapons and ammo capable of mass killings can no longer be allowed in our society. Those who feel they have the right to own them will be able to do so when their permits are approved. Their inconvenience notwithstanding, there are far more important and devastating consequences to consider. We have reached the point where we must balance the privileges of a few against the rights of many.
