Marijuana annually takes zero lives, yet it imprisons a person every 42 seconds. It's senseless to put harmless people behind bars for smoking a substance that does less harm than tobacco and alcohol. Amendment 64 needs to be brought to Iowa soon. Legalize it, and tax it. Billions of dollars are wasted annually on stopping the use and sales of marijuana. Do not also forget about the millions thrown in jail for just possession that sit there and consume large amounts of tax money. Marijuana can also help medical patients in need of it. Think about the money that can be saved from this and the good things that can come out of it.
