Enact the practice of Damnatio Memoriae in the event of serial killings or mass murders.

Created by J.C. on December 16, 2012

The media sensationalizes killers and murderers by plastering their faces and names on television and essentially making them famous throughout the country and sometimes even the world. Their despicable acts are often heralded and revered by equally deranged individuals who go on to imitate them and some even try to "out do" them. The media holds number of deaths in tragedies like the one in Connecticut as some sort of benchmark by saying things like: "if the body count holds up". Instead of these men's names and faces being all over news media outlets, all records of their names should be blacked out, scratched out, deleted, erased, destroyed, along with any of their images on the internet. Any trace of their memory should be destroyed. Let only their victims' names ever be remembered.
