The employer based model for health insurance puts hard working American's at the mercy of their employer. Employers can cut their workers' hours, thus making them ineligible to receive benefits, or collude with insurance companies making sure the plan presented to workers excludes coverage for certain medical needs. The people need real choices when it comes to health insurance, and insurance companies need pressure to create quality and affordable policies instead of just a handout in the form of a personal mandate.
