We request reason-based firearm regulation for training, registration and certification in order to reduce negligent firearm ownership such as:
1. Require classes for gun ownership taught by certified firearms instructors on the type of weapon that a license is being sought for (ie, handgun, rifle, shotgun, semi-automatic rifle, muzzle-loader, etc).
2. Registration of firearms to an individual and a responsibility by owners to report missing/lost/stolen weapons within a reasonable period of time.
3. Additional classes for those who want to carry firearms in public (as opposed to the strictly "home defense" or "hunting" owners).
4. Elimination of "Gun Free Zones." Properly trained and licensed firearm owners should be less restricted in where they can carry their firearms.
