In the United States, there are thousands of children that need a good family, and likewise there are thousands of families who would love to bring these children into their home. Due to the lack of regulation regarding the pricing for adoption services, many families are unable to afford the cost of adoption.
Agencies set their own pricing, forcing families in many cases to acquire loans or look into other methods to acquire thousands, and in some cases tens of thousands of dollars, in the hopes of getting a child.
Some agencies even choose to offer a "subsidy" for adopting specific types of children, thus making the value of one child different than another.
Controlling the costs of adoption would allow more families the chance to adopt, giving more children a chance at a good home.
