Enact a requirement for Comprehensive Ethnic Studies, about and for ALL different student populations, in public schools

In Robert Kennedy's speech in Indianapolis, announcing the death of MLK, a certain phrase reached out to me: "an effort to understand".

He said it here"...we can make AN EFFORT, as Martin Luther King did, TO UNDERSTAND and to comprehend, and replace that violence, that stain of bloodshed that has spread across our land, with an effort to understand, compassion and love."

And again, later on: "But we have to make an effort in the United States, we have to make AN EFFORT TO UNDERSTAND, to get beyond and go beyond these rather difficult times."

Education in the Unites States is often framed only as a key to individual economic advancement.

But what can also be a gift to our children is to allow them to better understand their own different peers, more than we ever understood each other.
