Distracted drivers are dangerous drivers. Therefore, I am petitioning the Obama Administration to enact laws requiring mobile phone manufacturers and automobile manufacturers to take advantage of technology and include devices that will prohibit a driver from manipulating the phone while the device is in motion.
Such technology should at the very least include NFC (Near-Field Communications) in both mobile phones and [the] automobiles, proximity sensors [with]in the [mobile] phones, and an accelerometer also within the [mobile] phone.
The three aforementioned technologies should be able to "talk" to one another to determine the phones orientation in the vehicle and accomplish the following:
Limit usage to hands-free operation only
Restrict only the driver's phone and not passenger's.
