We ask that the White House look towards sensible gun control laws that put more emphasis on the mental screening of individuals and take into considering the possibility of a mentally unstable individual having access to the firearm.
People are rarely institutionalized for emotional health issues. A sensible law would require a psychiatric evaluation from a qualified psychiatrist prior to purchasing a firearm.
People with a history of visiting a psychiatrist for issues such as depression, anger management or family violence will have their medical record flagged. The only way to get the record removed from a blacklist is psychiatric treatment.
A firearm in a home with someone who is mentally unstable will require an investigation to whether the firearm is secure from the person.
