President Obama and Congress should enact these five simple steps to help drastically reduce the amount of gun violence in this country.
1. Re-institute assault weapons ban.
2. Ban the sale of extended magazines.
3. Require background checks for all gun purchases (remove gun show loophole).
4. Keep background check database up to date with both criminal and mental health data.
5. Enforce strict sentences for those found carrying unregistered guns or carrying guns illegally.
