Most jobs have attendance policies in place to deter absenteeism. When an employee cannot honor those policies and does not have a legitimate reason for missing work, they are subject to corrective action, up to and including termination of employment. Senators and Representatives should be subjected to stricter attendance guidelines. They should be susceptible to termination of employment in the event they cannot attend a minimum percentage of meetings and cannot prove that they had legitimate reasons for being absent from those meetings.
