We as a society must come to terms with the fact that gun violence in this country is out of control.
It is far too easy to get a gun in this country. Only ten states require someone obtain a permit to purchase a handgun, only Washington D.C. requires someone to obtain a permit to purchase a shotgun, and in many states in America it is possible for people to bypass background checks when purchasing a firearm through something called the gun show loophole. It is widely known that the U.S. has some of the most liberal gun control laws among Western countries.
It is time that we as American citizens start protecting OUR RIGHTS to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This is not possible when guns threaten our schools, our movie theaters, and our communities.
