It is the opinion of many across the country that our Congress often serves too long.
This unfortunately leads to stale ideas, poor leadership, and gridlock in our government. The longer a member of Congress serves, the more money they are able to stockpile for their next election. This makes it nearly impossible for another candidate to raise funds to even compete. Add to this the fact that the vast majority of our members of Congress sometimes spend upwards of 40% of their time fundraising and campaigning for the next election, and nothing gets done.
I say, enact term limits for Congress. This will effectively remove career politicians from our government and bring fresh ideas and solutions. Maybe our Congress will be able to get something done by not campaigning all the time.
