enact term limits in the House of Representatives and in the Senate.

This petition addresses two issues: the amount of money in politics and representatives paralyzed by fear of what action on issues could mean for their reelection chances. While it is understandable to safeguard one’s job, it undermines their ability to act in the best way possible for the American people, regardless of political persuasion.
I propose we go a short way toward addressing these problems by enacting term limits for both Representatives and Senators. Something on the order of 5 terms (10 years) for Representatives and 2 terms (12 years) for Senators would preclude politicians from making service in Washington their sole career, embolden the people’s representatives when in office, and hopefully do something to sever the ties between politicians, lobbyists, and major industry.
