John Dingell, John Conyers, Charles B. Rangel, Bill Young, Thad Cochran, Don Young, Patrick Leahy, Max Baucus, Chuck Grassley, Tom Harkin, George Miller, Henry Waxman, Ed Markey, Orrin Hatch, Barbara Mikulski, and Nick Rahall. These 16 current congressmen and women have all served 36 years or more. There are countless more that have been in for over 20 years.
I believe it is time to set term limits for congress. There is no reason someone should be able to say that they are career congressmen, this is just keeping new ideas out and old outdated ideas in. The world is changing, and a majority of our congress is stuck in the past.
It does not have to be extreme, The Senate can serve 2 terms (12 years) and the House can serve 3 terms (6 years).
