encourage and fund geoengineering research

Created by B.S. on January 13, 2013

We encourage the study and preparation of geoengineering techniques, purposefully changing the composition of our environment with the intent to combat climate change. These techniques could form a stopgap measure to protect from the ever growing threat of climate change.
Concepts such as atmospheric sulfur aerosolization could reverse severe effects once they begin to be felt, whereas emissions reductions would take effect slowly. Concerted reforestation and other attempts at carbon fixation could muffle climate change in the short term, while permanent fixes are cemented.
Researching geooengineering with the intent to use it will prepare a climate "life raft", can be used in conjunction with long-term fixes, or could serve to motivate political consensus on an alternate approach.
