One of the big problems with SNAP is that monthly encourages stockpiling costly, high-fat, low-nutrient convenience foods because they are unlikely to go bad during the month.
By splitting that amount into biweekly payments, we can reduce reliance on these less-healthy alternatives, and present healthier perishables as viable options. This would decrease obesity, malnutrition, and food scarcities near the end of the month for our most vulnerable citizens as well as reduce the associated health risks that go with them.
