In a time when our country is facing many pressing issues, Congress shouldn't be twiddling their thumbs. Recently, some Senators have suggested holding a Congressional hearing on the infamous "bounty" system employed by some teams in the National Football League. Additionally, in recent years, Congress has also held hearings regarding steroid use in Major League Baseball.
Though the executive cannot control the actions of the legislative branch, the Obama administration should issue a statement making it very clear that such uses of government time and taxpayer money (investigating matters these leagues can deal with themselves) are inappropriate in these tough times.
