Encourage Congress to Enact Legislation Lowering Executive and Legislative Salaries to Win the Trust of the People.

Created by D.B. on March 12, 2013

Considering the fragile state of our economy and the lowering of wages and salaries throughout America, we the people petition the President of the United States of America to encourage Congress to lower the compensation given to elected representatives in the executive (President & Vice-President) and legislative (House and Senate) branches to be dispersed following the next elections. As our Constitution prohibits the President's salary to "be increased nor diminished during the Period for which he shall have been elected," we further petition President Barack Obama to follow the example of the President of Lithuania by voluntarily returning 30% of his own executive salary. In addition, we petition the President to ask members of Congress who are financially able to do the same.
