In recent years, especially since the Supreme Court decided to strike down parts of the Voters Rights Act, states have passed many laws that disenfranchise large gropes of people. For example the laws requiring IDs in order to vote. These laws undermine the democratic process by giving unequal rights to vote in federal elections to voters in different states. Every citizen over the age of 18 should have equal opportunity to vote in federal elections and as few restrictions as possible should be placed on that Civil Right. Those restrictions when they are placed should be uniform across the nation. Citizens should be encouraged not discouraged to vote.
