Every year the citizens of the United States spend over $30 billion dollars in yard maintenance. Over 800 million gallons of gasoline are used annually. A host of well known toxic and carcinogenic fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides are also recklessly unleashed upon the earth, leaching into our soils and water supplies, ultimately affecting everyone.
Let's make a small step towards ecological harmony by acknowledging the irresponsibility of using gas guzzling mowers and trimmers with no emissions controls to maintain our lawns. The average lawn mower puts out as much air pollution in one hour as the average modern car on a 340 mile drive. Sign this petition to encourage the EPA to crack down on emissions standards for lawn equipment.
