Tim McCarver is retiring from announcing baseball games for Fox Sports at the end of the 2013 season. The American public would benefit from President Obama encouraging Fox to support Steve Stone as McCarver's replacement.
Stone won the 1980 American League Cy Young as a player for the Baltimore Orioles. Stone also played for the San Francisco Giants, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox during his 11-year MLB pitching career.
Stone moved into broadcasting with the Chicago Cubs on WGN beginning in 1983. He continued to broadcast for WGN until 2004. Stone then worked for ESPN in 2005, which he followed by working for TBS in 2007. He returned to broadcasting in Chicago in 2008 this time with the Chicago White Sox.
There would be no better selection for the Fox job than Steve Stone.
