The House Judiciary Committee recently passed H.R. 313, the "Drug Trafficking Safe Harbor Elimination Act of 2011." This bill, if passed by the House of Representatives, would bring conspiracy charges against American citizens who plan to use marijuana in a foreign country where said use is legal. Additionally, anyone who takes part in the discussion of overseas legal usage could be subject to conspiracy charges. We do not need the House to create criminals where none exist. Rather than wasting time and tax dollars on creating criminals, we suggest the House consider bills to legalize marijuana and increase tax revenue through taxation similar to alcohol and tobacco. Therefore, We the People petition the Obama Administration to Veto H.R. 313 (2011) should it make it to his desk.
