Healthcare professionals have a moral obligation to provide the best patient/public health care possible informed by high quality, evidence-based scientific research. This research should be pursued vigorously without concern for the sale of products or furtherance of political ends. Discovery of medical breakthroughs must not be left only to industry whose primary interest is in profit.
We urge the administration to encourage an increase in federal funding for scientific research.
