America is suppose to encourage innovation right? Why are there so many ways that it's killing innovation at the start?
The patent system is a mess. It's so bloody huge that no one knows all the patents. They're worded so broadly that they'll cover everything. Not to mention the most obvious stuff is patented (Seriously? rounded corners for cell phones?)
There are patent trolls everywhere. You know if your invention is a hit, there will be patent trolls coming. They might not have valid grounds, but the fees/time spent to prove you're safe will eat you alive.
Laws. All these huges fines for protecting a company's profit margin. All these jail time laws for doing harmless things.
